“Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.”

Many people are anxious about the 2020 presidential election. Some people are ready for the election to be over and move forward with the projected winner while other people want to complete the process before accepting either candidate as the next president.

Technically, this election is still undetermined. We have a projected winner, however the unofficial voter results from the states on election night do not become certified until sometime in December unless the courts postpone the deadline. This has felt like a season of uncertainty. I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I can relax knowing that my citizenship is in heaven and that Jesus is coming back to take me there (Philippians 3:20). In the meantime, while we are waiting for Jesus’ return, we are subject to the governing authorities and should render them their due in accordance with Romans 13:7.

You and I need to be patient and let this process run its course. This is my 11th presidential election and everyone of them has been stressful. The truth is that we are victorious no matter who wins because King Jesus is still on the throne. No human being can stop you or me from fulfilling our God-ordained purposes, regardless of how powerful he or she may seem. We are more than conquerors!

While we participate in earthly government, as Kingdom citizens, we do not rely on it. Remember:

God is YOUR source, not the president.

God is YOUR source, not the government.

God is YOUR source, not the media.

God is YOUR source, not your job.

God is YOUR source, not your spouse.

So R-E-L-A-X. Take a deep breath and praise God for being your source through all of this. Jesus is ALIVE and everything is going to be alright! The best is yet to come!
