When Disaster Strikes

Someone recently asked me this question, and I felt prompted to share my response with you.

Question:

Hello Pastor! I hope you are well today. I have some questions and I know you may or may not be able to shed any light on this but I wanted to get your thoughts. The plane crash with the commercial airline and the army black hawk helicopter….did Satan steal, kill and destroy? Do you think any of them received any kind of warning not to take that flight or something of that sort? Do you think there were words said that contributed to this?

My Response:

Great questions!

I’ll do my best to respond, but I don’t have all the answers!

Accidents happen, and it is possible that other people can make choices that impact our lives in unexpected ways.

That’s why it’s essential to pray and declare God’s Word over ourselves daily—not out of fear, but in faith and alignment with His promises.

The Holy Spirit has promised to lead and guide us in every area of our lives. We may not have all the clarity we want but we must trust that no weapon formed against us shall prosper and that He is protecting us from any hurt, harm, danger, or destruction.

I believe Psalm 91 is still applicable for us today.

The greater question we must ask ourselves is: Are we prepared to leave this earth?

While we should plan for a long life, we should cherish each day and treat others with patience and kindness as if it were our last.

Tragic events like this are a sobering reminder of our mortality and should inspire us to make things right with God and those around us.

I don’t know if those on that airplane were warned not to board, but what I do know is this: A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, but it shall not come near you. (Psalm 91:7)

I hope this helps…
