Overcome The Plague
Exodus 12:13
Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.
God wanted to protect Israel during the time of the plagues in Egypt. During the death plague, God told the Israelites to put the blood of the lamb on the doors of their homes so that He would protect them. Pay close attention to these three parts of God’s promise:
The blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are.
When I see the blood.
The plague shall not be on you.
What does this have to do with us today?
First, understand that the New Testament often describes the human body as a house or temple. A house or temple is not just brick, mortar, plywood, windows, and shingles. When Jesus said He would raise up “this temple,” He was talking about His physical body.
According to the Word of God, you are also a dwelling place. Your body is the house in which your spirit and soul reside. If you are a believer, your body is also a house for the Holy Spirit.
So when God said, “The blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are,” He is illustrating a new covenant promise. If you are a believer, you are part of this covenant. Just like the blood of the lamb protected the Israelites who put it on their houses, the blood of the Lamb protects those that put it on their bodies by faith.
Jesus’ blood, the blood of the Lamb, is protecting your physical body and covering you wherever you go.
If the Lord is leading you to fly out of the country,
Jesus’ blood covers you.
When you go to work,
Jesus’ blood covers you.
When you go to the store,
His blood covers you.
If someone is within 6 feet of you,
His blood covers you.
We usually think about Jesus’ blood as payment for our sin, but look back at Exodus 12:13 for a moment. God said, “When I see the blood… ...the plague shall not be on you.”
Jesus’ blood not only pays for our sin, but it also protects us against the plague.
Say this out loud right now:
This present pandemic may seem endless, but when God sees the blood, the plague shall not be on me.
Different viruses and new variants may be all around me, but when God sees the blood, the plague shall not be on me.
A lot of people might be contagious and sick with COVID-19 symptoms, but when God sees the blood, the plague shall not be on me.
Prayer: Father, I thank You that because Jesus’ precious blood covers me, the plague shall not be on me. In Jesus’ name, Amen!”
